— traditionally marked and celebrated in the month of October by Reformed Churches. I write now to remind you to keep the following dates in October free. Under the auspices of the Singapore Council of Christian Churches, Sembawang-Moriah Bible Presbyterian Church is privileged to be chosen as the venue to host the bulk of a series of Reformation-related events.
- October 23, 2014 (Thursday). A public lecture to be given by Professor Daniel Doriani on Luther and The Reformation.
- October 24, 2014 (Friday). A public lecture, again given by Professor Daniel Doriani on Calvin and the Reformation.
Note: Both the lectures above will be held in Moriah BPC starting at 8pm nightly. They are open to the public. And I encourage you to attend and also invite your Christian friends to come. These lectures are a unique window into understanding a little more of the two great figures of the 16th Century Protestant Reformation. Admission to the lectures are free. Do make a point not to miss them!
- October 25, 2014 (Saturday). A Reformation Worship Service will be held on Reformation Then and Now in Moriah BPC starting at 6pm with dinner provided by the SCCC, and followed by service at 7pm. The speaker is Dr. Daniel Doriani.
- October 31, 2014 (Friday). A public seminar on the LGBT issue entitled, True Manhood & True Womanhood. This issue has been in the media spotlight lately, and the Church believes it will not be going away anytime soon. This seminar will give you some biblical insights to this issue. Catered dinner will be provided at 7pm, courtesy of the SCCC, followed by the seminar at 8pm.
Professor (Dr.) Daniel Doriani has been invited by the Singapore Council of Christian Churches to give this series of lectures to us. Dr. Doriani is currently the Vice President of Strategic Academic Projects and Professor of Theology at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Covenant Theological Seminary is a strongly Presbyterian and conservative institution. Before entering academia, Dr. Doriani was pastoring for more than 15 years in two different Presbyterian churches in Maryland and Missouri.
I urge you to make plans to attend these not-to-be-missed lectures and seminars and invite your friends too! You may not have another opportunity to hear from a distinguished academic and senior pastor and an authority on the Reformation.
