Reflection on Isaiah 12:2-6

Sing and Shout

'With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation'' Isaiah 12:3
John answered all of them by saying, “I baptize you with water, but one who is more powerful than I, is coming; I am not worthy to untie his sandal straps. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and Fire.” Luke 3:16

This passage reminds us that God is our salvation. We can stop being afraid, We can trust God — and we have to, because salvation is something we cannot accomplish without God.

So what is true for me is true for all of you for both the salvation and the source of that salvation.

We are assured of this even when we are living in a time of disruption, turmoil and despair all around us.

So, be grateful. And don't keep your gratitude a secret. Other people would benefit by knowing what you have learned, what you have experienced.

Have we experienced deliverance from a difficult situation? I am sure many of us do and at times in great despair seemingly unable to see any light at the end of the tunnel

Hence verses 5 and 6 encourage us to "Sing praises to the Lord, for He has done excellent things; let this be known in all the earth. Shout aloud and sing for joy, O royal Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel."

In closing may I leave these few thoughts for us to ponder…

- What does "all the earth" mean to you?
- How loud is "aloud"?
- Can you imagine sharing your joy with someone? a lot of people? loudly?
