Reflections on Psalm 1

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
— Psalm 1:6

Which way do we want to go? The broad and busy road or the narrow and less travelled road? Go with the traffic or go against the traffic?

We read in Matthew 7:13-14 that the way that leads to destruction is broad and many go in by it whereas the road that leads to heaven and eternal life is narrow and few go in by it.

This Psalm gives us good counsel on how to take the right path: refrain from following the advice of the wicked, do not be influenced by them and do not participate in their mocking games. Instead, we are advised to delight in reading and to meditate on God's word.

God's word is sufficient and has all the power to find this true Way: Jesus who Himself says "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).
