Message from Rev. Daniel Gan
Rev Daniel Gan
4 January 2024
Dear Beloved Moriah family,
Grace and peace to you. With great joy and well... trepidation, I undertake this sacred responsibility to shepherd Moriah B-P Church from 2024.
First, I want to express my deepest appreciation for Rev. Robert Chew, who have been faithful in his service in teaching, preaching and leading Moriah over the past few decades. The foundation that he has laid testify to his commitment to Moriah.
But even as I step into this role as the lead pastor, I am acutely aware of the intricate tapestry of Moriah’s history, woven with threads of both brokenness and faith. While we journey in the wilderness together, the assurance is that with Christ as our Rock, we will eventually discover sweetness at our journey's end.
Our church's trajectory is outlined broadly by the singular theme of "Abide", and sub-themes of “Abide in Christ”, “Abide To-Gather” and “Abide to Engage” over a 7 year plan. Do allow me to unveil the vision for each phase.
1. Abide in Christ:
First, let us abide in Christ through worship and in the hearing of His Word. Our abiding will then be manifested through diligent study and daily meditation on His Word. May the transformative power of His Word guide our collective and personal journeys.
2. Abide To-Gather:
In the spirit of fellowship, we dwell into the richness of His Word through our Sunday Bible Classes, and immerse ourselves in each other’s lives through our Home Care Groups. Our fellowship, rooted in Christ’s love, is the crucible that will forge stronger bonds within our community.
3. Abide to Engage
Building on the preceding phases, we will abide in Christ together as we engage in mission. Together, let us be the hands and feet of Christ, impacting our community and extending our reach beyond our shores.
Let us be reminded of Jesus’ words in John 15:5,
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
Our purpose, strength and vitality come from our abiding connection to the vine, Jesus Christ.
Despite our differences, I urge each one of you to embark on this wilderness journey with open hearts, ready to grow in sweetness, grace, love and service. I am here to walk beside each of you to listen, to learn and to lead, as we collectively follow Christ.
May His grace continue to abound, and may our fellowship be a testimony to His transformative power. Together, let us seek the honey in the rock and be so transformed.
In Christ’s love,
Rev. Daniel Gan
