Church Camp
Episode 4 – Abiding in Love by Rev. Dev Menon
Follow steps 1 to 5 as in the previous exercise, and meditate on this passage:
John 15:9-11
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
1. What do I understand when Jesus asks me to abide? Why was it so important that He had to repeat the word so many times?
2. How do I currently ‘practise’ abiding? Is it sufficient to meet the challenges of the day or the week? What do I need to change?
3. What happens when I don’t abide? Can I recognise some signs and symptoms in myself or my actions? (List them out here)
4. Are there people that can regularly point out to me (in a gentle way) when I am not doing well spiritually? How can I cultivate more of these relationships?
Remind yourself that the promise of Jesus is that the joy He had with His Father may be in us. Ask the Lord earnestly to help you cultivate this elusive joy.
