Forgiveness and Church Discipline

1. In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus teaches "... if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly
Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will
your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matt 6:14-15).
What do you think the implications are of this prayer on your understanding and attitude
of forgiving others?

2. In the biblical passage, what are the three things Paul recommends that we should pursue
if we want to truly forgive others.

3. There is a popular saying, "Forgive and forget." Are you able to forget when you forgive?
Why and why not? What ways can you think of to try to rid yourself of the bitterness after
you have forgiven somebody?
